Catch the Spirit
The Catch the Spirit initiative was created in 1991 in an effort to attract more youth and families to the game of golf and to USGA championships. With this program, a new generation can gain exposure to the game’s rich history, life-long lessons and admirable heroes. Catch the Spirit is an ongoing initiative, although the main focus is a week-long educational program that takes place at every U.S. Women's Open.
Kids Get in Free and Get a Front-Row Seat
Kids ages 17 years and younger receive complimentary admission to the championship when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Additionally, all kids get front-row seating in every grandstand, including on the 18th green.
Junior Tent
There will be an exclusive tented area for juniors located on the championship grounds and juniors who enter the tent will receive a complimentary Catch the Spirit hat and the Snoopy Rules of Golf book. Juniors also receive a complimentary lunch voucher each day during championship week. Additionally, there will be a putting green inside the tent which will allow kids to put into practice what they are watching on the course. Kids will also enjoy the opportunity to participate in a golf course scavenger hunt as well as the “Inside the Ropes” tour of the championship course.
Clinics
There will be instructional and entertaining clinics held during the practice rounds of championship week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). These clinics are popular and the demand for seats is high. We encourage you to get to the championship early on these days to ensure a good view!
More information regarding who will be hosting the clinics, as well as the clinic times, will be posted prior to championship week.

Additional Information
USGA Fellows are responsible for the marketing and operational plans of the Catch the Spirit program. This requires extensive year-round preparation and implementation during the week of the championship. Additional information on Catch the Spirit events taking place at the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open will be announced prior to the championship.
