The U.S. Women’s Open is conducted at individual stroke play over 72 holes and will consist of a field of 156 players.
Monday, July 6 through Wednesday, July 8, will be practice rounds. Players determine their own groups and tee times during these days. Practice rounds will begin at 7 a.m. each day and end at 7 p.m. Once the groups have started off of their respective tee, this information will be posted at the first tee as well as on the various practice round boards located throughout the grounds.
The championship rounds begin on Thursday, July 9 and continue through Sunday, July 12. Contestants play in groups of three on Thursday and Friday and groups of two on Saturday and Sunday. Following the first two rounds (36 holes), the field of players will be cut to the lowest 60 scores, including ties, and any player within 10 strokes of the leader(s).
Play will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and end at 7 p.m. The playing field will be split into two "waves" for the first two days in order to accommodate the two-tee start. Groups of three players from the morning wave of the field will tee off in 10-minute intervals from the 1st and 10th holes starting at 7 a.m. The afternoon wave of players will start their rounds at 12 noon and should conclude at approximately 7 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, tee times are assigned according to cumulative scores with the highest scores teeing off first and the lower scores teeing off last. The first tee time will be dictated by the size of the field that makes the cut. The leaders will tee off at 3 p.m. All players will tee off from the first hole on Saturday and Sunday. Play on the weekend will conclude at 7 p.m. each day.
Please note: All start and end times are approximate and subject to change.
If there is a tie after 72 holes, there will be a three-hole aggregate playoff immediately following play. Should there still be a deadlock after three holes, players will continue to play hole by hole until the winner is determined.
